Put-in-Bay, Ohio…

So i took a little one day road trip down to Put-in-Bay Ohio… I guess I should preface this story by answering the ‘why’ first. Quite simple really.. I used to be an alcoholic, and my family knew, and would get me gifts that people enthused by alcohol might enjoy.. and of course I was and still am very thankful for all the gifts I received.. Well, one of these gifts was a ‘One-a-Day’ calendar that featured different beers of the world. Each day introduced me to a new beer or one I already knew, and supplied neat little factoids as well. One day, they mentioned that the world’s longest bar was in Ohio, I did research on this bar, and I couldn’t find it for the life of me. I went as far as to email the chamber of commerce and find out if they knew anything – they didn’t, they did get back to me and let me know that it had closed around the prohibition… Ok.. so I did a quick google and found that the current record holder for the world’s longest bar, at 406′-10″ was the ‘Beer-Barrel Saloon’ in Put-in-Bay Ohio.. which just so happens to be about 5 hours away from me by car. So I had to go, I talked to numerous friends, and they all said ’sure! let’s do it’ but we never did.. so once the cold weather broke, I began to plan the trip again.

We went down for one night. apparently that area of Ohio has many different
*-ests.. They had the Ohio’s best Lobster Bisque, The world’s tallest free standing monument, the nations only peace memorial, The world’s largest geode (underground – crystal cave – http://www.putinbayphotos.com/crystalcave/070613cave43.jpg)
Ohio’s oldest winery – and that’s all on an island that’s 3 miles wide by 1 mile wide!
on the mainland, there’s the world’s largest such and such kind of yatch dealer, and Ohio’s largest cheese shop (http://www.cheesehaven.com/) .. it really was friggin’ ridiculous.

So the world’s longest bar, is seriously a massive bar, and I would imagine you could throw a serious friggin event there.. I would say if you’re within a 5 hour ride of Put-in-Bay, check it out for a 2 night stay.. get a golf cart ($40 for the day) and crash that island.. Hilarious time, good time, new time..

Oh man I’m so full I’m gunna pop. We ate a shitload of beef with this bleu cheese sauce that I created last summer after a little trial and error.
Medium heat, Half a stick of butter, melt it down in a pan – add a good shaking of garlic and pepper and whatever else you feel would work out.. when butter is fully melted, slowly add 8oz of bleu cheese, stirring constantly until the bleu cheese and butter combine. after this is looking smoothly textured, add 1/2 – 2/3 of a small carton of heavy cream… mix until it’s all creamy goodness all over.. then add about a half a block of shredded white sharp cheddar – to cut the intensity of the bleu cheese.. add more cream or more sharp cheddar or boil it down or whatever you want to do to make it reach the consistency that you’re looking for. Not a low calorie affair at all, I know.. but it is delightful, and if you try it, you’ll love it. pour it over some sirloin steaks.. it’s good shit.

Hey guys, just wanted to let you know that I’m getting another tattoo in a month or so.. I drew it today, and I’m excited about it.. it’s a TB303 with the verbiage on it modified to fit me better… it will appear bolted to my body.. with the wires coming out the back and burrowing into my skin (no blood – don’t want to scare the kiddies)
I will be getting this tattoo on the inside of my left bicep. I think it’ll be neato.
